'Bring The Pale'

"Tell me you brought the pail."

"The pail?"

"The pail."

"What pail?"

"You didn't bring it?"

"You mean the bucket?"

"It's a pail."

"'Pail?'"

"You didn't bring it."

"I thought you were."

"I told you to bring it."

"You said, 'Bring the pale,'"

"Oh my god."

"It's a bucket. 'Pail'?"

"Well go back and get it."

"No."

"We came all this way and you didn't bring it?"

"I'm not going all the way back down."

"Oh my god."

"Why didn't you bring it?"

"I would have but I asked you so I thought you were."

"I would have if I knew what you were talking about."

"I asked you, and you didn't. So go get it."

"I'm not going."

"It's your fault. You should go."

"It's not my fault. You're the one who calls it a 'pail'."

"We'll both go."

"What?"

"We're both going back."

"For the bucket?"

"Yes."

"Why?"

"Because we're both to blame."

"No. You're all to blame"

"You didn't bring it."

"You didn't say to bring it."

"I said 'bring the pail.' How much clearer do I have to be?"

"How am I supposed to know what 'bring the pail' means?"

"Well, what did you think I meant?"

"I don't know. I thought you were being, like, poetic."

"What?"

"Like. 'Bring the pale!'"

"Pale?"

"Like, ashen. Pale face."

"Why would I say, 'bring the pale'?" 

"I thought you meant that I should bring a foreboding sense of, like, malaise?"

"What are you talking about?"

"Pale! Like, sickly? How was I supposed to know? You're the one who said it."

"And you didn't ask? You didn't say, 'hey, what do you mean 'bring the pale,' I don't understand,'?"

"You say weird stuff all the time."

"And you just ignore me?"

"Sometimes."

"'Bring the pail!' 'The pail!' I can't believe you don't know that a pail is!"

"I know what a pail is, you're just the only person who calls it that. It's a bucket!"

"But why would I even say something like that?"

"Because you're the type who still calls buckets 'pails'."

"Whatever you want to call it, we came up all this way without it."

"'Bucket.'"

"And it's all the way down there. How are we going to get the water?"

"Well, I'm not going all the way down and back up again."

"Fine."

"You're going to go get it?"

"Yes."

"I'll wait here."

"Uh huh."
